The Oklahoma Storms of April 2, 1994
Answer to Question 4

Question 4. Look at the Mesonet temperature, dew point, solar radiation, and wind fields at 4:30 p.m.
How have they changed since 2:30? How do the temperature, dew point, and wind fields
relate to one another?
|
Answer. Between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., the cold front pushed
farther into central Oklahoma. The dryline pushed eastward and bulged
over Cleveland County. From the solar radiation plots, cloud cover increased
over the northern half of the state since 2:30. Also, the minimum in solar radiation
in southern Oklahoma is aligned with the moisture tongue shown in both dew point maps. From the wind vectors, the center
of the surface low pressure system propagated slightly to the east.
