Question 10. How well do you think the WSR-88D will perform during the evening hours with its ability
to accurately measure precipitation? |
Answer. The radar estimated rainfall agreed nicely with the rain gauge reports from the city of Dallas. By comparing the storm total rainfall estimates at 8:27 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., approximately 2.5 inches of rain fell in urban northwest Dallas county in that period. These amounts equate to a rainfall rate of 10 inches per hour! |
