Question 3. Look at the NWS text products that were issued until noon on August 17. Were any thunderstorms expected to occur in Oklahoma? Specifically, what were the forecasts for Grant, Major, Garfield, Kingfisher, and Canadian counties?
 



 
 
Answer. According to the NWS text products from the morning of August 17, thunderstorms were not expected to form during the afternoon. The 7:00 a.m. forecast mentioned a 20% chance of morning thunderstorms, but that chance was removed from the 8:45 a.m. forecast.
