Answer to Question 4 |
|
Question 4. Look at the radar data between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Now look at the Mesonet maps from
the same time period. What has happened to the surface moisture in western Oklahoma since
7:00 a.m.?
|
Answer. The surface moisture in western Oklahoma had increased since 7:00 a.m. Dew point temperatures that were in the mid-50s at 7:00 a.m. increased to the mid-upper 60's by 2:30 p.m. The increase in surface moisture contributed to the intensification of the thunderstorm complex in Kansas as it entered northern Oklahoma. The thunderstorm in Alfalfa County intensified from 61 dBZ to 71 dBZ between 1:49 p.m. and 2:29 p.m. |
