Answer to Question 5 |
Question 5. Examine the Day 1 Convective Outlook issued at 2:39 p.m. How has the thinking of the
forecasters at the Storm Prediction Center changed?
Answer. The Storm Prediction Center shifted its slight risk area from the north-central plains to the southern plains. The SPC has observed an increasingly unstable atmosphere, and felt that severe convection could develop across the southern plains. This particular event surprised forecasters as evidenced by the slight risk outlook being issued well after severe weather occurred in Oklahoma. |
