Answer to Question 9 |
Question 9. Discuss why solar radiation, air temperature, and dewpoint temperature are three good surface parameters to judge the possibility and severity of severe weather.
Answer. These three parameters help judge instability, boundaries and moisture. In this case instability and moisture are stressed. Dewpoints are well above the Sammy Haggar 55 F rule, and the large amount of solar radiation and high temperautes indicate large quantities of instability at the surface. This should teach emergency managers that not all ingredients are needed or needed in large quantities if 2 or 3 of the ingredients are in excessive supply. |
