Question 3. How much rain is expected in the affected area for each six-hour period of the forecast? Do
any of these exceed the six-hour flash flood guidance threshold?
|
Answer. In the 12Z QPF run, 6-hour rainfall totals range from 0 - 1.5 inches in northeast Oklahoma. The first 6-hour period has .75 inches of rain forecasted around Tulsa. The second and third 6-hour periods have forecasted less than .5 inches for northeast Oklahoma. The last 6-hour period has 1.5 inches of rain forecasted for a large part of northeast Oklahoma. None of the 6-hour rainfall forecasts were expected to exceed the 6-hour flash flood guidance threshold. In the 00z QPF run, the 6-hour rainfall totals for northeast Oklahoma are very small. No more than 0.01 inches of rain is predicted by this run, and the flash flood guidance values won't be exceeded. |
