Question 14. Tipton and southwestern Oklahoma experienced much higher 3:00 pm SC values than Seiling and northwestern Oklahoma. Compare the Seiling meteogram to the Tipton meteogram. Assuming that the NDVI (vegetation) information is roughly the same for each station, what happened to cause the Tipton SC to be higher than the Seiling SC?

Answer. The SC value is lower in Seiling for a number of reasons:
  • Seiling temperature is lower and the relative humidity is higher.
  • Winds at Seiling (10 mph) are lower than at Tipton (15 mph).
  • Seiling has cloudy skies at 3 p.m. while Tipton skies are clear.
