Question 10. How well do you think the WSR-88D will perform during the evening hours with its ability to accurately measure precipitation?

Answer. The radar estimated rainfall agreed nicely with the rain gauge reports from the city of Dallas. By comparing the storm total rainfall estimates at 8:27 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., approximately 2.5 inches of rain fell in urban northwest Dallas county in that period. These amounts equate to a rainfall rate of 10 inches per hour!
