Question 2. How much rain is needed to produce flash flooding for Tulsa County in a one-hour period? In a three-hour period? In a six-hour period?
 


 
 
Answer. At 8:00 p.m. on August 17th, it would take 1.4 inches of rain in one hour, 2.0 inches in three hours, or 2.3 inches in six hours to produce flash flooding. By 9:00 a.m. on August 18th, the values decrease to 0.7 inches of rain in one hour, 1.2 inches in three hours, and 1.5 inches in six hours to produce flash flooding.
