Data Manager
The Data Manager is used to access data sets that have been archived. From the Data Manager, you can delete data from a data set or open the folders containing the data in the Explorer. The Data Manager is not used to view archived data.
To access the Data Manager:
- Choose Window > Show Data Manager
- Choose the Data Set you wish to view
- Click Show Files
Note: Data are organized differently for each data set. Some data sets are organized by year, month, and day; other data sets are organized by product types; some data sets are organized by both. In this window, you can either delete the selected folder or show the selected folder in the Finder.
Note: All archived data are saved to your computer's hard drive. Over time this may result in a large amount of data being stored on your hard drive. If your hard drive is getting full, consider deleting or backing up data sets which are not used often.
Some data sets (such as lightning data) require a username and password. If you have a username and password, select a data set from the drop-down menu, enter your username and password information in the Name and Password fields, and click Save to store information. Once you have entered the information, you will be able to view the data.
To determine the source agency for a data set, click on the data set in the legend, then choose Window > Show Data Manager. Beneath the password field is an identifier. This identifies the folder where data are being saved. For instance, data from the Oklahoma Mesonet are saved in a folder named "edu.ou.mesonet.standard".
Beneath the identifier is also the Provider, Source, and Contact for the data. For Mesonet data, the Provider is the Oklahoma Climatological Survey; the Source is the Oklahoma Mesonet; and the Contact is the OCS Operator. To access the websites of the Provider and Source, click on the "@" symbol. To e-mail the Contact, click on the "@" symbol.
